It was 8 years ago yesterday (May 6, 2008) that I took the Technician Class license and passed, took the General Class license and passed and took the Extra Class license and failed miserably. I had earned my General ticket and was destined to hit the airwaves as quickly as possible.
Passing the Tech and General class licenses that day were possible because of some very helpful ElmersOrigin of the term "Elmer" The term "Elmer"--meaning someone... in my area and also because of some very helpful websites. Over the years I’ve done quite a bit of reading, much of that reading online for sites belonging to various operators who choose to spend their time sharing their knowledge and hard learned lessons so that others of us, like me, could learn those lessons the easy way. This is one reason I decided to create a resource of other Amateur Radio Operator sites and give a synopsis / description and my opinions of the site with a 0 Star to 5 Star rating.
Another ingredient in my choice to create an “Other Sites” page is that I frequently find awesome sites that are full of important information and then loose track of that site because the file that I saved it in gets lost or misfiled or the browser bookmark gets lost when I’ve moved to a new computer, or a myriad of other reasons why information gets lost or misfiled. So in essence, this page will be a personal resource of information for myself as well.
As of right now, I’ve shared sites of two Amateur Radio Operators. I gave one site a 4 Star rating and the other site a 1 Star rating along with descriptions that give insight into my thinking and how I determined my own opinionated rating.
Happy reading – 73!
