Welcome to the KE7TVZ Blog.
I got my start, and my love, for electronics as a little kid with my Radio Shack 150 Project Kit. The “AM Broadcaster” was my favorite circuit to build. I figured out that connecting the “antenna” output to other metal objects increased the range I could hear my “broadcast” signal from. My “dx” dreams began!
In the mid 70’s our family got a CB Radio. I soon learned about SSB, Channel 38 and “skip” – I was hooked! In the early 80’s, I was in highschool in a small town. messing around with CB radios… all of my friends and I ran with them in our cars, had them in our houses and essentially lived on them.
Adulthood struck and I left radio behind. Eventually… years later while stationed at the Navy base in Connecticut, I fired up a CB out of curiosity. I was appalled at what I heard, shook my head and turned it off without so much as saying a word.
In March of 2008 an opportunity to attend amateur radio licencing classes with my church group. My son and I took them. In
May 2008, I became KE7TVZ a General Class and my son became KE7TVS, a Technician Class. Then in July of 2013 I took and passed the Extra exam and here I am.
I am very technically oriented. I’m good with hands on and I’m good with theory and always enjoy learning more.
Can I copy code? The answer is “some” and I’m actively studying. I think the key (no pun intended) to this is the same as it is for almost anything else. Get out there and try!
On that note – 73’s
