From the time I began studying for my first license back in 2008, I have come across and benefited from information posted on so many other sites.\u00a0 Over the years, as I have looked for information I’ve had several different lists of “resources” which are now scattered across various directories on different computers, scattered to and fro. The thought occurred to me to create a page on this site that spotlights various Amateur Radio Operator websites for their content, delivery, accuracy, originality and other factors as well.\u00a0 I’ve decided to give a 0 to 5 Star rating.\u00a0 Statistically, the highest rating (best) of 5 Stars and the lowest rating (worst) of 0 Stars are very difficult to get however those ratings can be given.\u00a0 Statistically speaking, the mid-band rating o 2.5 Stars would be most common and the rankings would go up, or down from there.\u00a0 These ratings and descriptions are just my opinion and you should take them or leave them for what they are worth…\u00a0 73!<\/p>\n

\u00a0Blog Description<\/td>\n\u00a0KB6NU has done a very nice job of designing, formatting, populating it with useful information and from what I’ve seen he posts very frequently.\u00a0 As of May 6, 2016 there were six new posts and I scanned his April 2016 posts and counted approximately 22 posts.\u00a0 I read a few of his posts and found them well written and informative.\u00a0 There is active advertising on this site however it is in good taste and to B6NU’s credit the advertising is promoting his own products and services.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\u00a0Blog Description<\/td>\n\u00a0A search engine result in response to a random length antenna question brought me to a page on W0IPL’s site discussing NVIS.\u00a0 As I read this page, one that is very clearly copyrighted by W0IPL as his own original work, something struck me and I began to search around.\u00a0 It is not my place nor intent to place judgement however what I will state is that much of the content on this page shows up word for word on many other sites.\u00a0\u00a0 The information on NVIS that W0IPL has posted appears to be accurate.<\/p>\n

W0IL’s writing style comes across a bit condescending to me.\u00a0 Just the page on NVIS alone is fraught with examples:<\/p>\n

  • “One item that some who write for QST fail to understand is that…”<\/li>\n
  • “I find it amazing the number of people that can read the previous paragraph and not understand it.”<\/li>\n
  • “One thing that many people either ignore or have never learned is”<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Navigation of w0ipl.net is difficult.\u00a0 To view the rest of the site I had to edit the url in my browser to get to the “Home” page.\u00a0 Upon arrival there I found that the site is not specific to amateur radio, but rather a mixture of preparedness, political opinion pieces and other items of non-radio related subjects.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
